HE WHISTLES FOR THE BEES?

Truly, we should be amazed at God’s control over the entire universe. New instances keep coming to light as I walk this pilgrim pathway, and as they are called to my attention, I am stricken by the fact that God, always the same, will go to any length to fulfill His purposes. I started a list. Maybe you can think of more.

■ Fish – The coin in its mouth; huge catch by the disciples
■ Donkey – Spoke to his master
■ Sun – Stood still so that Joshua could finish the battle
■ Wind – Blew a pathway through the sea
■ Cattle – Guided down the right road bearing the ark
■ Mulberry Trees – Rustled as a signal for ??? to move ahead into battle
■ Rain – Halted Sisera’s iron chariots; stopped for 3 ½ years; started again
■ Lice – Plague
■ Grasshoppers – Plague and judgment on Israel
■ Flies – Plague; Jeremiah says God will whistle for the flies and they will come
■ Bees – God will whistle and they will come
■ Bird of Prey – God says He can call for one at any time
■ Man from a Far Country – God says He can bring one at any time
■ Water – Stirs it up and calms it down; walks on it
■ Earthquakes – Swallowed up the sons of Korah; many other instances
■ Fire – Many instances, especially at the Baal-Elijah contest and fiery furnace
■ Frogs – Plague in Egypt
■ Hail – Several instances
■ Lions – Stopped their mouths; used for judgment
■ Bears – Killed those that mocked the prophet Elisha
■ Darkness – Plague and other instances
■ Ravens – Instructed to bring food to Elijah

There are more. Not only are there more in the pages of Scripture, but you and I have heard about God’s amazing control of everything from preachers and missionaries and have seen it for ourselves throughout or years. The Israelites “limited the Holy One of Israel” the Psalmist tells us. Not a good thing! No matter what we face, God has at His disposal absolutely everything. He just waits for someone to believe that He will come through when the going gets really rough!

It is astounding to consider that God whistles at all, let alone whistles for the bees to come! Stopping the mouths of lions is nothing to Him. Walking casually into the blazing fire to stand with His servants is what He does.

Astounding as it may seem, God will whistle for the bees or call a man from a far country to get the job done. Can you trust Him to do whatever it takes? I’m learning to be excited to wait and see just what He will do as I face new trials!
